Why do we need a Home School Agreement?

The School’s Commitment
We will provide opportunities to bring the best out of children by:
- Involving them in their own learning
- Ensuring that they know what they can do and what they need to learn next
- Using different styles of teaching to ensure learning is always interesting and fun
- Valuing children as individuals
- Helping them to understand and adopt a healthy, physically active and environmentally friendly lifestyle
- Providing appropriate home learning activities
We will communicate with parents and carers by:
- Preparing an annual report on each child’s progress which includes ways development
- Notifying parents / carers of the dates of parent evenings at the start of the school year
- Holding parent evenings so that the child’s achievements and targets can be discussed and shared
- Producing an online newsletter of updates about whole school information on a fortnightly basis via the school website and sent by email
- Keeping calendars updated and providing ample notice for upcoming events
- Responding to individual queries in a timely fashion
- Keeping the school website up to date with relevant information
- Using Facebook to give updates about school events
We will manage discipline by:
- Dealing with disruptive behaviour effectively, in line with our Behaviour Policy
- Informing parents of any incidents of bullying, racism or violence
- Informing parents if it is felt that their child’s behaviour is causing concern and working with them to support the child in school
Parents’ or Carers Commitment
Parents will support the school in educating your child by:
- Encouraging your child to take their schoolwork seriously
- Attending parent evenings, and other meetings that are arranged to discuss your child’s progress
- Working together with your child on joint home learning activities
- Encourage your child to display good behaviour, politeness, self respect and respect for others and their property
Parents will support communication with the school by:
- Informing the school as soon as possible if your child is unable to attend
- Reading all emails and letters that are sent / brought home from school
- Discussing with the school any concerns you have about your child’s education and welfare in a supportive and calm manner
Parents will help the school’s routine to run smoothly by:
- Making sure that your child attends school every day and arrives by 8:55am properly equipped for the day
- Ensuring that children are wearing the correct school uniform (or PE kit)
- Ensuring that appropriate arrangements are made for your child to leave school promptly at the end of the day
- Supporting the school in maintaining a high standard of behaviour and in not tolerating bullying, racism, sexism or violence
Child’s Commitment
Children will:
- be ready and willing to learn and do their best
- come to school every day and arrive by 8.55am, unless they are ill
- wear their school uniform (or PE kit) correctly
- show kindness, consideration and respect to all
- listen to others and to follow instructions
- allow others in class to learn effectively
- show self control and behave in a sensible manner
- follow the school, classroom and playground code of conduct
- help to keep the classroom and school tidy
- complete homework on time
- support and care for everyone in the school
- be friendly and helpful
- speak politely
- not hurt or upset other children
- take care of their own belongings and school equipment
- be careful when playing in the playground
- not run when inside the school building
- ask if they need help with their learning and with their relationships at school and at home
- have fun in their learning!
